TopUsing a Duralast jump start pack to start your car when the battery is dead offers convenience and is much quicker than waiting for the auto club to arrive if you are stranded. The jump starter pack is basically a portable, rechargeable car battery in a box. The pack has a positive and a negative cable attached to it with large clamps on the ends for attaching to the battery of your car. It must be charged before use, and you can carry it in the trunk of your car for use as needed.
Step 1
Open the hood of your car and locate the battery. If it is not under the hood, you will need to consult your dealer for specific location information.
Step 2
Locate the positive battery terminal on the battery. There will be a large + embossed on the battery next to the terminal. Attach the red, or positive, cable from the jump starter to the positive side of your battery.
Step 3
Locate the negative terminal on the battery. This one has a large - embossed in the battery next to it. Attach the black, or negative, cable from the jump starter to the negative terminal.
Step 4
Locate the power switch on the front of the jump starter pack. Rotate the dial to the on position. Make sure the jump starter is sitting in a spot that it will not fall. Go to the driver's seat of the car.
Step 5
Duralast 700 Jump Starter Manual
Turn the key in the ignition as you normally would and start the car. Leave it running and return to the engine compartment. Switch off the jump starter and remove the cables from the battery.
Place the jump starter in the trunk or other safe spot in the car and close the hood. Allow the car to run for 20 to 30 minutes to recharge the battery before shutting it off.
Warning
- Be sure to verify the positive and negative terminals on the battery before attaching the jump starter. Attaching the cables backward could damage the battery or electrical system of your car.
